Standards of Beauty

I think I have heard more over the past few days people bashing their frames and remarking on others bodies. I think I hadn't heard conversations like this in a while but lately I feel like I'm hearing it more.

This is my PSA. Just do you. Do what you need to do to be healthy and successful. I wish the western ideals of beauty could be shot down. I believe a woman is at her sexiest curvy and healthy looking. Nothing wrong with a little extra middle right? I'm saying...all bodies are different. Genes aren't always our friends but we can work with what we got. If you aren't happy with your frame, as I was, I went ahead and changed it. And I'm at an all time low (yes I'll be saying that for a while) and I'm happy. I could stop here and be fine. Weight loss is luckily a side effect of Paleo but I'm healthy and lean. I walk, I eat, I drink water. Nothing out of the ordinary here! :D

I wish we could quit the fat/thin talk and just appreciate ourselves as we are....beautiful women.

Standards of beauty change, beauty is a social construction which changes and grows and depending on what country you are in, is completely different than the US. I think we need to challenge the social construction of beauty and standards of beauty here by showing what real women look like and act like. There is no perfect body. We are all different and we are all beautiful. I do believe there is an article out there about the garment industry and how the sizes are not consistent. I think we need to look at the way in which clothes are not consistent for women. I was a size 10 at Gap but size 12 at Old Navy. This was not fun for me because I always felt like I wasn't good enough or I wasn't trying hard enough to loose weight but I know that wasn't true. Now I'm over it. I'm over what everyone else says, even though the compliments are very nice, I'm over the media dictating how I should look.

That's my PSA for today.
